Comme Toi is a song by Jean-Jacques Goldman, released in 1982 on the album Jean-Jacques Goldman (Minority). It has a daughter, Sarah, who was not eight years, with the happy childhood that could continue living even marrying one day to Warsaw;but other people had decided otherwise.
The song’s lyrics imply that this little girl is a Polish Jewish victim of the Holocaust. The idea for this song came to Goldman watching the image of a little girl (who do not necessarily called Sarah) his mother in a family album which was born in Germany2.
Originally Polish Jewish, Goldman marks its commitment to the countries of Eastern Europe and their musical traditions; he does not play the violin solo in the first version of the song, but will do it in his concerts.
